The European Association for Psychotherapy and Brexit

February 9, 2020

Following the departure of the UK from the European Union on January 31st, 2020, the European Association for Psychotherapy considers it is important to state that the UK will continue to be part of EAP.

The National Awarding Organisation (NAO) of the UK, which is the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) will continue to be the NAO for EAP. UKCP will continue to represent the UK profession of Psychotherapy within the European Association for Psychotherapy, and it will continue to be the organisation which can award the European Certificate of Psychotherapy to its registrants All those who currently hold the ECP awarded to them through UKCP will keep all the benefits and advantages that the European Certificate of Psychotherapy offers.

In addition, the European Association for Psychotherapy will strive to work for the profession of Psychotherapy above and beyond the political issues which divide countries, and within our profession, we share a common ground and can work together keeping an open attitude of what we all share as Europeans. We will together continue to be Europeans, and through EAP we will continue to build bridges – real living bridges – as we work with one purpose to build our profession across Europe.
